The ACEN School of Consulting Engineering (ASCE)

The training arm of the Association

ACEN School of Consulting Engineering (ASCE) was established to foster continuous professional development of engineers and allied professionals whose roles require constant refreshing and extensive utilization of workshops as a tool for increased performance.

ASCE is poised to strategically nurture and advance first-class consulting engineering practice in Nigeria, by generating and administering yearly, a rich blend of comprehensive, purposefully-built training courses for ACEN member firms, private firms and the public sector, particularly Nigerian government ministries, departments and agencies. This will ensure their continuous learning and professional development in order to operate with the highest standards of technical competence and business ethics in their practice of consulting engineering, and ultimately, support and contribute to capacity development in building a greater Nigeria.

Our facilitators, local and international, are drawn from a pool of seasoned professionals that are well-grounded in their chosen fields to provide participants with the necessary technical and managerial knowledge to fit their job descriptions.

Every training is interactive and participative. The methodology is designed to achieve maximum group participation. It allows participants to take away real practical skills, rather than just theoretical knowledge. It also prepares engineers for positions of higher responsibility and recognition.

ACEN, as the representative of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) in Nigeria, also offers training on FIDIC Conditions of Contract in the following modules which explain in detail the content of the contracts’ clauses and how to practically use the FIDIC contracts in international projects:

Module 0: Professional Service Agreement
Module 1: Practical Use of FIDIC Conditions of Contracts
Module 2: Management of Claims and Disputes Resolution under the FIDIC contracts
Module 3: Understanding DABs (Dispute Adjudication Boards)
Module 4: Management and Administration of FIDIC Contracts
Module 5: FIDIC Conditions of Contract for EPC/Turnkey Projects
Module 6: FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Design, Build and Operate projects

The ASCE also offers in-house training on technical engineering courses which are specifically tailored to the client’s request.
